Actor Jonathan Majors Arrested in NYC for Alleged Assault on Woman, Representative Denies Claims

Actor Jonathan Majors has been arrested in New York City on charges of assault and harassment following a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman, as reported by the police.

The incident occurred on Saturday in an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, and the authorities responded to a 911 call around 11 am. According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Majors' attorney has claimed that the accuser recanted the assault allegations since the arrest.

The police spokesperson stated that the victim reported being assaulted and suffered minor injuries to her head and neck. She was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition. Majors, known for his roles in "Creed III" and "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania," was taken into custody without incident.

As of Saturday night, Majors was no longer in police custody, as reported by the authorities. In response to the charges, a representative for the actor denied any wrongdoing and expressed their confidence in clearing his name. In an email statement, the representative said, "He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up."

Subsequently, the Los Angeles Times reported that Majors' attorney, Priya Chaudhry, stated that they had obtained two written statements from the woman who recanted the allegations.

Majors has quickly risen to fame in Hollywood and has been acclaimed for his performances in several movies, including "The Last Black Man in San Francisco," "Da 5 Bloods," "The Harder They Fall," and "Devotion." He also stars in "Magazine Dreams," a film that premiered at Sundance, which Searchlight Pictures will release in December.

TMZ TIMELINE UPDATE:

5:03 AM PT -- A judge released Majors without bail at his Saturday night arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court. Prosecutors charged the actor with misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment, attempted assault, and harassment. Majors is due back in court in May.

4:44 PM PT -- Here's what allegedly happened in the lead-up to this. Per our law enforcement sources, police were told that the alleged victim is Majors' girlfriend -- and, according to her, they got into an argument while in a taxi returning home from a bar in Brooklyn.

Our sources say police were told the girlfriend saw another woman texting Majors, and she confronted him -- trying to sneak a peek at his phone. We're told the alleged victim/GF claims this got Majors mad, and that he allegedly grabbed her hand and allegedly slapped her.

We're also told the alleged victim claims he put his hands around her neck during this. Our sources say the woman was dropped off somewhere and that JM spent the night elsewhere. It appears the girlfriend went to the police the following morning (Sat.) and reported a crime. **Credits to TMZ**
