Boxing Star Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Arrested in L.A. for Illegal 'Ghost Gun' Possession

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. got arrested in Los Angeles over the weekend for having an illegal assault rifle.

The police were called by a worried fan who thought the boxer might be a threat to himself or others.

At around 1:30 PM, LAPD took the 37-year-old, the son of the famous Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., into custody. They found the illegal rifle inside his home after he allowed the officers to enter.

The weapon turned out to be an untraceable "ghost gun."

Chavez Jr. was taken to Valley Jail in Van Nuys after the incident, where the 6'1", 170 lb. fighter was officially booked.

This isn't the first time those close to Julio have been worried about his well-being. Chavez Sr. has expressed concerns that his son might be at risk of losing his life if he doesn't change his ways.

Talking about his dad's god-like figure, even though Julio didn't reach the incredible success his father had in boxing, Jr. ended his career with a 53-6-1 record. He faced tough opponents like Daniel Jacobs and Canelo Alvarez.

Chavez Jr., a former WBC middleweight champion in 2011, had his last fight in December 2021, winning against David Zegarra.
