Conor McGregor Claims He Was "Playing Ping Pong" with Floyd Mayweather's Head During Fight, Predicts Victory in Rematch

Conor McGregor is convinced that his performance in his initial encounter with Floyd Mayweather was sufficient to support his assertion that he could prevail in a rematch.

The first bout between the Irishman and the self-proclaimed 'TBE' (The Best Ever) took place in 2017 and ranks as the second most profitable fight in boxing history, trailing only Mayweather's clash with Manny Pacquiao.

Despite being a novice to the sport of boxing and facing an undefeated legend in Mayweather, McGregor displayed great courage and skill in his debut, but in the end, it was a rather effortless triumph for the American. The bout was characterized by McGregor's strong starts in each round, followed by a rapid decline in energy, allowing Mayweather to dominate.

However, McGregor's recollection of the fight differs from this narrative. In response to a fan's video showcasing the Irishman seemingly hurting Mayweather with a body shot in round nine, McGregor suggested that he remembers the fight differently.

“Round 9. I was playing ping pong with this guys head in there at many times in this fight,” McGregor said.

“If you don’t think there is some real nice adjustments that can be made and implemented in a second fight, to get the job finished, you’re silly.”

One fan responded: “Much love to you, man. But Floyd would kick your ass 10 times if you stood up to him 10 times.”

McGregor did surprisingly well against Mayweather, but it was not enough to even come close to winning

Before McGregor clapped back: “Floyd can’t kick. Or read.”

This comes after the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe, recently said that he wants to see the rematch with McGregor.

“I would love it. I’ve got nothing but love for the UFC and Conor McGregor,” Ellerbe told Ariel Helwani on an MMA Hour episode.

“You know, I’m a big fan of all their work, and that was actually the best event that I’ve ever been a part of. It was a lot of fun.”

Firstly though, McGregor must turn his attention to MMA, as he has a scheduled clash with Michael Chandler in the UFC.
