Jake Northfase drops new visuals for “The Apartheid Remix” featuring Killah Priest.
The footage, shot by R.Hendricks, captures the raw atmosphere of a night deeply rooted in New York hip-hop culture, bringing together artists, DJs, MCs, and longtime contributors to the culture for a celebration that became the perfect backdrop for the upcoming visual.
Among those in attendance were some serious names from the hip-hop community, including Tony Touch, DJ Enuff, Rack-Lo, Thirstin Howl the 3rd, and D-Stroy, alongside DAOS representative DJ J-Ronin, whose birthday celebration provided the setting for the shoot.
Rather than simply creating another music video, Jake Northfase and the DAOS team are documenting a moment within the culture. The combination of live energy, legendary personalities, and the atmosphere of a New York hip-hop celebration gives the visuals an authentic feel that can’t be recreated on a soundstage.
“The Apartheid Remix” pairs Jake Northfase with Killah Priest, bringing together Northfase’s independent hip-hop movement with the distinctive lyrical presence of one of hip-hop’s respected MCs. The remix continues Northfase’s focus on using music and visual storytelling to address culture, history, and identity.
The new footage from DJ J-Ronin’s Birthday Bash adds another layer to the project, placing the song directly within the community that continues to keep New York’s hip-hop culture alive.
With Tony Touch, DJ Enuff, Rack-Lo, Thirstin Howl the 3rd, D-Stroy and other members of the culture in the building, the celebration became more than a birthday party—it became part of the visual history surrounding the record.
