Mark Zuckerberg Sports Black Eyes Following Intense MMA Sparring Session

Mark Zuckerberg remains committed to his MMA training, demonstrating his enduring passion for the sport.

Although talk of a potential fight with Tesla owner Elon Musk has quieted down, Zuckerberg's dedication to MMA remains unwavering. On a recent Monday, he shared a photo on Instagram, bearing two black eyes and showing signs of wear and tear following an intense training session. His caption humorously read, "Sparring got a little out of hand. May need to update my avatar." The post quickly garnered over 500,000 likes on the platform that he owns.

Former ONE Championship middleweight and light heavyweight titleholder Aung La Nsang commented, offering some advice, "Might need to keep your hands up Mark." Will Gomis, who has a 3-0 record since joining the UFC last year, chimed in, "What does not kill you makes you stronger." It's clear that a few bumps and bruises won't deter Zuckerberg from pursuing his newfound passion.

The 39-year-old tech mogul initially discovered MMA during the COVID-19 lockdown. He began training in various martial arts disciplines and even tested his skills at a Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament in California earlier this year, where he surprisingly earned two medals in his debut competition. Subsequently, he was called out for an MMA fight by Elon Musk, sparking discussions that UFC CEO Dana White believed would be the biggest event of all time.

To prepare for this potential showdown, UFC stars Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski joined Zuckerberg's camp, while Elon Musk worked with MMA legend Georges St-Pierre. Zuckerberg went to great lengths in his training, including constructing an Octagon in his garden, much to the chagrin of his wife, Priscilla Chan, who did not share his enthusiasm for fighting, as evidenced during their attendance at a private UFC event together.

Regrettably, Zuckerberg's MMA debut was postponed in August when Musk claimed he needed surgery before competing. Nonetheless, Zuckerberg remains resolute in his intention to step into the MMA arena, and given the intensity of his recent sparring session, his inaugural bout may arrive sooner rather than later.
