Jeff Loveness, the writer behind Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, has shared insights into the difficulties involved in bringing the highly anticipated MCU team-up to life.
Loveness, who has previously worked on projects like Rick and Morty and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, was announced as the writer for the upcoming Avengers sequel last year, receiving widespread praise from fans and the MCU alike.
Despite teasing the inclusion of several heroes in the blockbuster film, including the protagonist, Loveness has been tight-lipped about plot details. This may be because the intricacies of the plot are still being finalized, as he has admitted that putting together the highly anticipated team-up has proven to be a challenging task. Fans eagerly await further updates on the development of Avengers 5: The Kang Dynasty.
Jeff Loveness' Avengers-Sized Difficulties

During an appearance on the Friends From Work podcast, writer Jeff Loveness discussed the challenges he has encountered while working on Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Loveness candidly expressed that "itโs almost comedic how hard this challenge is," as he is tasked with crafting a follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, two of the most significant and beloved movies in cinematic history.
"I think, like obviously, itโs almost comedic how hard this challenge is. Itโs like, โOh no, you have to follow up 'Endgame' and 'Infinity War,' both made about two billion dollars, and everyone loves it.โ"
Theย Kang Dynastyย writer lamented that it has been nice toย "have a buddy [inย Avengers: Secret Warsย writer Michael Waldron]"ย as he goes through all of this:
"So, itโs been nice to have a buddy [in 'Avengers: Secret Wars'ย writer Michael Waldron] that you can kind of joke about that with. Itโs like, โOh yeah, we have quite literally, like on paper, [what] may be the hardest job in the world as far as movies go. But I donโt know. Iโm just trying not to think about it, and write a movie that I would like, and weโll see how it goes.โ
The Avengers 5 Problem
No matter who was going to tackle Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, these difficulties were going to come up. It is a tall task to take on a project where expectations are on a 'biggest movie of all time' level.

And this is not the first time Loveness has spoken about the internal struggle he has been having over the Avengers 5 script. The screenwriter recently spoke on the challenge of trying to connect all 30 Marvel movies together, yet tell an interesting story that stands on its own as well. That is not to say fans should be worried about The Kang Dynasty. In that same interview, Loveness remarked that "[they]โve got a plan and itโs going to be very exciting with Avengers."
This is just a case of a creative writer opening up and being transparent during the Marvel Studios process, which is something that should be celebrated by fans and not maligned.ย
Avengers: The Kang Dynastyย comes to theaters on May 2, 2025.ย
