Jeff Loveness, the writer for Avengers 5 and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, has clarified that he is not the notorious Marvel leaker.
In March, Disney responded promptly to a leak that included an accurate script for Ant-Man 3 and other confidential MCU information. As fans came across an account defending Loveness and his creative decisions for Quantumania, doubts arose regarding whether the MCU writer was the source of the leak.
Jeff Loveness Calls Out 'Bogus' Accusations
When a Twitter user raised the question of whether Marvel leaker @thewatcher_2099 is, in fact, Jeff Loveness, the Avengers 5 writer responded, saying "Nah. That’s not me:"
"Nah. That’s not me. Didn’t leak anything. All Bogus"
In the past, the mysterious leaker called out the "Loveness hate train" due to backlash surrounding Ant-Man 3, as well as the writer being "fed to the wolves" before asking, "Where is Peyton Reed?"
Besides the underwhelming reception of Quantumania, Jeff Loveness faced backlash from fans due to his staunch support of MODOK and his defense of the controversial ending of the third installment.
Presently, Loveness is slated to write Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, alongside unverified rumors, there have been allegations raised against Jonathan Majors, the actor portraying Kang. These rumors also hint at Loveness possibly no longer being involved with the forthcoming Avengers movie.
Marvel's Post-Endgame Problem
The notion that Jeff Loveness would jeopardize his Marvel Studios career by leaking spoilers to the online community seems as far-fetched as the presence of MODOK in Quantumania.
However, there's no denying that leaks and fan dissatisfaction have become increasingly prevalent since Avengers: Endgame and the beginning of Phase 4.
Prior to Ant-Man 3, a constant stream of leaks circulated prior to the release of 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Furthermore, recent MCU films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder received mixed reviews from MCU audiences.
While leaks and film backlash are unrelated, Jeff Loveness' response on social media suggests that he, along with other Disney and Marvel creatives, is taking notice.
It will be intriguing to observe how the Marvel brand continues to address both online spoilers and the conversations surrounding Loveness and Quantumania moving forward.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is streaming now on Disney+.
