Michael Chandler, gearing up for his highly anticipated showdown with Conor McGregor at UFC 303 on June 29, has his sights set on another major bout: a potential clash with BMF champion Max Holloway.
Chandler, who is currently ranked No. 7 in the UFC lightweight division, expressed his interest in facing Holloway after witnessing the Hawaiian fighter's sensational knockout victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300. Holloway's triumph secured him the BMF belt and catapulted him to the No. 9 spot in the lightweight rankings.
In an Instagram Q&A session, Chandler voiced his eagerness for a matchup with Holloway, emphasizing the allure of a BMF title fight. "Would I fight Max for the BMF belt? Absolutely," Chandler stated. "Max embodies the BMF. Max created the most ‘Holy sh*t’ moment, the most BMF moment that we have ever seen."
While Chandler acknowledges the significance of his impending clash with McGregor, he is also eyeing the opportunity to compete for a championship in the future. His ultimate goal is to pursue the biggest and most compelling fights in MMA.
In addition to Holloway, Chandler expressed interest in facing the winner of the UFC 302 main event between lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and challenger Dustin Poirier, scheduled for June 1. "I am focused on Conor (on) June 29 – I would love to smash Conor," Chandler affirmed. "But whoever’s got the belt at lightweight, or I would love to fight Holloway or whoever has the BMF belt."
