The wardrobe just opened again.
Netflix dropped the first trailer for Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew — her adaptation of the 1955 prequel novel that shows how Narnia was born — and it opens with Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven." That's a statement of intent. Newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell play Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, the kids who stumble through the Wood Between the Worlds. Daniel Craig shows up as the scheming Uncle Andrew. Emma Mackey is Jadis, the future White Witch. And the trailer ends on the one everyone's arguing about: Meryl Streep as the voice of Aslan, the lion whose song builds a world from nothing.
The DAOS take: Gerwig started from a Barbie Dreamhouse and now she's building a universe out of a song. Theatrical IMAX run February 12, 2027, then Netflix April 2. Love the casting gamble or hate it — nobody's ignoring this one.
