Nate Diaz Cites Self-Defense in Response to New Orleans Arrest Warrant

Nate Diaz's representatives have responded to the recent arrest warrant issued for the UFC veteran.

Diaz was involved in a physical altercation outside a New Orleans bar over the weekend, following a Misfits Boxing event. A video of the incident shows Diaz being confronted by a man identified as Rodney Petersen, who is known for his resemblance to social media influencer Logan Paul. Diaz can be seen putting Petersen in a guillotine chokehold and then dropping him to the ground after he loses consciousness.

As a result of the incident, the New Orleans Police have issued an arrest warrant for Diaz on charges of second-degree battery.

“Nate’s attorney Walter Becker can confirm that Nate has received word of the arrest warrant and Becker has been in contact with court authorities in New Orleans,” Diaz’s representative Zach Rosenfield said in a statement sent to MMA Fighting.

“Nate’s attorney looks forward to presenting all of the facts about this incident to the District Attorney which clearly demonstrate that a trained fighter named Rodney Petersen aggressively pursued Nate with the intention of engaging him and once doing so, Nate acted entirely in self-defense. No further comment will be made at this time.”

As of now, it is unclear when Diaz will surrender to the New Orleans Police based on the arrest warrant.

Diaz, who left the UFC following the end of his contract in 2022, is currently scheduled to fight Jake Paul in a boxing match in Dallas on August 5th.
