Nate Diaz Released on Bond After Surrendering to New Orleans Police on Battery Charges

Nate Diaz surrendered himself to authorities Thursday morning.

According to a statement released by his representative, Zach Rosenfield, the former UFC fighter surrendered to the New Orleans Police Department in response to an arrest warrant issued for his involvement in a street brawl on Bourbon Street over the past weekend.

See the full statement here:

"Nate voluntarily turned himself in to the New Orleans Police Department this morning approximately at 7:10 am. CT. We continue to look forward to presenting all the evidence and videos that show Nate was acting in self-defense."

The arrest warrant issued for Diaz is for suspicion of second-degree battery, a felony charge in Louisiana that carries a potential penalty of up to eight years in prison "with or without hard labor" and/or a fine of up to $2,000.

After being booked, Diaz was able to post bond and was subsequently released from custody with no travel restrictions imposed by the courts.

โ€œBond has been granted and posted with the full permission from the court to resume travel which includes returning to Stockton today,โ€ Rosenfield said in a statement sent to MMA Fighting. โ€œWe appreciate how we were treated by the New Orleans Police Department, the court and their staff.โ€

Last Friday, Diaz attended Misfits Boxing 6 in New Orleans and was involved in two altercations. The first incident almost resulted in a physical altercation with reality TV star Chase DeMoor. Later that evening, Diaz was in a fight with Rodney Petersen, who bears a striking resemblance to Logan Paul, and reportedly choked him unconscious.
