On August 26th, 2023, at Wroclaw Stadium in Poland, Oleksandr Usyk, the unified heavyweight champion, will defend his IBF, WBA, and WBO titles against Daniel Dubois. The highly anticipated bout will be broadcast live on TNT Sports pay-per-view in the UK.
Previously, Usyk had been in negotiations for an undisputed fight against Tyson Fury at Wembley in April. Unfortunately, the talks fell through. Consequently, in line with his mandatory obligations, Usyk will now face Dubois as ordered by the WBA.
Usyk is the clear favorite after his consecutive victories over Anthony Joshua, while Dubois enters the fight after a tough battle against Kevin Lerena, where he suffered a knee injury and hit the canvas three times. However, with the unified heavyweight championship on the line, both fighters have everything to fight for.
A win for Usyk would keep his dream of becoming undisputed alive, while Dubois has the opportunity to become a world champion for the first time.
Furthermore, Usyk's victory would add pressure on Fury to face him for the undisputed bout. On the other hand, a win for Dubois would facilitate an undisputed fight, as both he and Fury are promoted by the same promoter.
