MCU EXCLUSIVE: Captain America 4 Set Photos Hint at a Major Character's Demise

Recent set photos from Captain America: New World Order suggest that the upcoming MCU film will not spare everyone from peril.

Set to release on May 3, 2024, the film features Anthony Mackie reprising his role as Sam Wilson, alongside supporting cast members from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+, as well as new faces such as Harrison Ford as Thunderbolt Ross, Tim Blake Nelson, and Liv Tyler from The Incredible Hulk.

Since filming began on March 20, production photos have given Marvel fans glimpses of the cast on set. However, the latest batch of images not only showcase the stars but also hint at the fate of a particular character.

The pictures, posted by JustJared, feature several members of the cast, including Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson, in a cemetery setting. In the images, Wilson seems to be attending a military funeral, as indicated by the military garb of the cast and the tombstones visible in the background.

It's also important to note that Sam Wilson is wearing a sling, suggesting that he will suffer a significant injury at some point in the film.

In addition, Liv Tyler, who will reprise her role as Betty Ross for Captain America 4, was also spotted at the cemetery shoot.

Given that both Sam Wilson's Captain America and Liv Tyler's Betty Ross are present at the cemetery, it is reasonable to assume that the deceased character may have had significant connections to both of them.

Who Won't Survive Captain America 4?

There are a few possibilities for whose burial the Captain America 4 cast is attending.

Although some have speculated that the funeral is for Thunderbolt Ross, given Betty Ross's attendance, it's unclear who the deceased character might be. Harrison Ford is set to play the new President of the United States in the upcoming Thunderbolts film, which could rule out Ross as the character in question.

Other possibilities include Carl Lumbly's Isaiah Bradley, who would be deserving of a military funeral, or even Steve Rogers, who has been missing since Avengers: Endgame.

Since New World Order is a Captain America film, it could be an appropriate way to conclude Rogers' story as Sam Wilson begins his tenure as the new Captain America.Image

The decision to depict Sam injured in the set photos is intriguing because, unlike Steve Rogers, he isn't a super soldier. It's possible that his injury occurs during the film's climactic battle, which would explain why he needs to be in fighting shape for most of the movie. As a result, the cemetery scene is likely to take place towards the end of the third act.

As production on Captain America 4 has only just started, fans can expect to receive more updates about the film in the coming weeks.
