David Benavidez calls for Canelo showdown, says 'give the people what they want'

David Benavidez, also known as the 'Mexican Monster', has recently issued a challenge to Canelo Alvarez, adding more pressure on the undisputed champion to accept a highly anticipated mega fight.

Benavidez, who defeated Caleb Plant to become the WBC interim champion, is now in line for a shot at the title. However, Canelo has already expressed his interest in a rematch with Dmitry Bivol, leaving Benavidez's challenge up in the air.

After his win against John Ryder, Canelo Alvarez expressed his desire to fight Dmitry Bivol next in September. However, negotiations have hit a major snag, with both fighters apparently at odds over the weight class for the bout.

Canelo is seeking a rematch at light heavyweight, whereas Bivol is reportedly interested in fighting at 168 lbs for the undisputed titles. If an agreement can't be reached, David Benavidez is waiting in the wings, eager to step in for the opportunity.

“Let’s give the people what they want to see,” Benavidez

Another fighter who has called out Canelo Alvarez is Jermell Charlo, and if that match were to materialize instead of a bout with Benavidez, it could intensify rumors that Canelo is avoiding the Mexican boxer.

Alvarez has been infamous for his statement about not wanting to fight Mexicans. However, with mounting pressure from fans, it remains to be seen if he will change his stance and take on the challenge.
