Kell Brook has grabbed the attention of the boxing world by teasing âmassive newsâ in a social media post that tagged Conor Benn on Monday.
The retired former welterweight world champion has hinted at a potential comeback fight against the controversial young contender in recent weeks, though few expected this to actually materialize any time soon.
Brook's nutritionist, Greg Marriott, recently shared footage of the 36-year-old boxer heading out to his training camp, which is presumed to be in Fuerteventura - a location where he has trained for previous significant fights. In a social media post that tagged Benn, Brook hinted at "massive, massive news" that could be on the horizon.

After retiring in February 2022, Brook has struggled with his mental health since leaving the sport. If a Brook vs Benn fight were to occur, it would not be in the UK, as the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) is currently refusing to grant Benn a license in the country due to two positive drugs tests.
Benn's planned fight with Chris Eubank Jr last year was canceled as a result of the positive tests. However, Benn is not cooperating with the BBBofC/UKAD (UK Anti-Doping) investigation into the matter. As a result, his promoter Eddie Hearn has stated that Benn's anticipated return on June 3 is likely to take place in the UAE or USA, where Chris Eubank Jr and Manny Pacquiao are also possible opponents.
In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Brook revealed that he has been inspired to make a comeback by Conor Benn, a well-known boxer. Brook stated that as a fighter, the challenge always remains in him and he would relish the opportunity to demonstrate to Benn what he's made of.
However, before anything can proceed, discussions with Benn's promoter Eddie Hearn and manager are necessary to determine Brook's fee, which he believes will be substantial.
Brook went on to state that boxing is his game and that he has given his all to the sport, putting himself in a metaphorical prison to hone his skills. He firmly believes that he has what it takes to defeat Conor Benn and that he is still the best welterweight or light middleweight out there, particularly in Britain.
He acknowledged that he would need to reignite his passion for the sport and commit himself fully to training once more. If that excitement returns and he decides to take off his metaphorical slippers and lace up his boxing shoes once again, there is a chance that we could see him back in the ring soon.
