Mayweather vs Gotti III: Boxing Exhibition Bout Set for June 11

Floyd Mayweather has chosen a well-known opponent for his upcoming fight.

He will be taking on MMA fighter and professional boxer, John Gotti III, in an exhibition match on June 11th at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. The announcement of the match was made through a press release by Mayweather's promotion on Wednesday, with a formal announcement expected from Mayweather himself in Miami on Thursday

Despite retiring from professional competition after his win over Conor McGregor in August 2017, Floyd Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) has kept himself busy with various exhibitions against well-known figures from diverse fields. These have included fights with YouTubers Logan Paul and Deji, RIZIN standout Mikuru Asakura, and kickboxing champion Tenshin Nasukawa.

In February of this year, the 46-year-old boxing legend faced reality TV star and former Bellator fighter, Aaron Chalmers, in an eight-round exhibition fight.

Gotti, a 30-year-old fighter, has a record of 5 wins and 1 loss in MMA, and is undefeated at 2-0 in professional boxing. After his first MMA defeat against Nick Alley by unanimous decision in October 2020 and two cancelled fights, Gotti made his professional boxing debut in October 2022. Since then, he has secured two wins, defeating Alex Citrowske and Albert Tulley. Notably, Gotti finished Citrowske in less than a round in January of this year.

The June 11 event is being promoted with the tagline “Last Names Matter.” Gotti is the grandson of notorious New York mobster John Gotti, who died in 2002.
