Sony Pictures has reportedly offered a significant role in Venom 3 to Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for his supporting role in Doctor Strange.
Following the success of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Sony Pictures gave the green light for the production of Venom 3, with the casting process now in full swing.
The upcoming sequel will see several changes to its lineup of actors and creatives, including producer Kelly Marcel taking on the role of director, and Ted Lasso star Juno Temple joining the cast in an undisclosed role alongside Tom Hardy's leading hero. There are also rumors that a major player from the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be joining the cast.
MCU Star Considered for Venom 3
According to scooper Daniel Richtman's Patreon account, Sony Pictures has reportedly offered a villainous role to actor Chiwetel Ejiofor in the upcoming film Venom 3. Ejiofor is best known in the superhero genre for his portrayal of Baron Karl Mordo in the MCU's Doctor Strange movies.
Furthermore, there have been reports that Owen Wilson, known for his role in the popular Disney+ series "Loki," has been approached with an offer to play a different character in the upcoming Sony sequel. This new role would be distinct from his portrayal of Agent Mobius.
Wilson reportedly passed on that role and an offer went out to What We Do in the Shadows and Moana star Jemaine Clement, although it's still unknown if he's taken the offer yet.
Will the Doctor Strange Star Join Venom 3?
Chiwetel Ejiofor has undeniably demonstrated his exceptional talent in portraying a cunning and deceitful antagonist, which was notably evident in his outstanding performances in both the 2016 film "Doctor Strange" and its 2022 sequel "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Having made a thrilling return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a member of the Illuminati in "Doctor Strange 2," the Academy Award-nominee has the potential to explore a dynamic new role in Sony's symbiotic film series with a part in "Venom 3." Alongside other stars from the previous installments, Ejiofor could bring fresh energy to the highly anticipated third film, which Tom Hardy is eager to infuse with added complexity and nuance.
As production for "Venom 3" is set to take place from June to September of this year, more details are likely to emerge once filming commences and the actors take to the set.
