Marvel Studios has given fans a sneak peek at the first official merchandise featuring Zawe Ashton's villainous character, Dar-Benn, from the upcoming movie, The Marvels.
Ashton plays a gender-swapped version of the Kree General from the comics, who is expected to hold a similar rank in the MCU. She carries a hammer-like Kree weapon similar to Ronan the Accuser's and wears green robes with a green tint in her hair. The merchandise shows Ashton's character strutting forward, wielding her weapon, and looking every bit as powerful and intimidating as her comic book counterpart.
The new merch comes hot on the heels of Ashton's first appearance in the trailer for Captain Marvel 2, which arrived online in April. She was shown wearing a bangle on her wrist that resembles the one that gives Kamala Khan her powers.
Ashton's character is expected to be an important piece of plot and story detail in the movie, as Carol Danvers works with a team of heroes for the first time in one of her solo movies.
The potential of Captain Marvel 2 taking Carol Danvers' powers away for some of the story has fans curious to see how formidable Zawe Ashton's new villain will be against the movie's main trio of heroes, played by Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani.
The movie's marketing campaign is expected to feature Ashton's character prominently, as Marvel Studios looks to build excitement for one of its most highly anticipated movies of 2022.
The Marvels will feature nearly a dozen major stars, with Ashton's Kree villain being just one of them. Fans are eager to see how the movie will add to the MCU and what surprises Marvel Studios has in store for them. With exclusive footage shown at the D23 Fan Expo already giving fans a taste of what's to come, anticipation for The Marvels is at an all-time high.
The Marvels will debut in theaters on November 11.
