Ryan Reynolds, the star of Deadpool 3, may have unintentionally revealed the return of an iconic X-Men team in a recent tweet.
According to a report from Deadline, two major Deadpool characters, Stefan Kapicic's Colossus and Morena Baccarin's Vanessa, will return for the third installment as part of Wade Wilson's transition into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Then, of course, there’s Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Now, Reynolds' tweet has hinted at the return of a team that many viewers believed to be gone for good.
Ryan Reynolds Spoils Deadpool Team?
Deadpool 3 star Ryan Reynolds might have spoiled the return of a key team in his upcoming MCU debut.
Reynolds’ initial tweet showed an image of the X-Force team in Deadpool 2, with the caption, “X-Force will live forever!”
Confusingly, the actor edited the caption, which now reads “X will live forever!”
It’s unclear what exactly the message means, but it’s hard to ignore the clear reference to the iconic X-Force team.
Is X-Force Back in Deadpool 3?
While there hasn't been much talk about the X-Force team in the lead-up to Deadpool 3, actor Lewis Tan hinted at a possible return late last year. However, Deadpool's connection to the team in the comics is strong, as is the same for both Wolverine and Cable, who appeared in the second film.
Although it is uncertain if Josh Brolin's Cable will return, it seems likely if the movie is bringing back someone like Colossus. The potential combination of Cable, Deadpool, and Wolverine is tantalizing and could lead to the incorporation of X-Force in some way.
With the Multiverse rumored to play a significant role in the third film, there is plenty of room for shenanigans. Ryan Reynolds, like he did in Deadpool 2, could take liberties with the concept of the X-Force. This time, however, he could either clean the slate going forward or work closely with Marvel Studios to establish the foundation for the X-Force in the MCU.
Eventually, mutants will get their day in the spotlight.
Deadpool 3 hits theaters on November 8, 2024.
