Paddy Pimblett Emerges as Overwhelming Betting Favorite Against Tony Ferguson for UFC 296 Clash

Tony Ferguson's odds have taken a hit in the eyes of oddsmakers.

Following the announcement of his UFC 296 lightweight matchup against Paddy Pimblett, Ferguson has emerged as a significant betting underdog. Initial odds from BetOnline reveal that Ferguson is listed at +280 odds to stage an upset, while his opponent, Paddy Pimblett, is favored at -340 to continue Ferguson's rough patch.

To break it down, bettors would need to place a $340 wager on Pimblett to make a $100 profit if he manages to defeat Ferguson.

The MMA community had mixed reactions to the UFC's announcement of Ferguson vs. Pimblett. Concerns were voiced about Ferguson facing yet another up-and-coming fighter, especially considering his ongoing losing streak. Since 2020, Ferguson has suffered six consecutive defeats, and in most of these fights, he struggled to stay competitive.

In contrast, Paddy Pimblett, aged 28, has maintained an undefeated record in his four UFC appearances. He has been inactive since his controversial decision win over Jared Gordon in December 2022.

UFC 296 is scheduled for December 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will feature two title bouts: Leon Edwards vs. Colby Covington for the welterweight championship in the main event and Alexandre Pantoja vs. Brandon Royval for the flyweight title in the co-headliner.
