Ryan Garcia Sets Sights on Gervonta Davis Rematch, but There's a Catch

Fresh off his victory against Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia is wasting no time in aiming for a rematch with Gervonta Davis, but there’s a condition attached to his challenge.

The California native, who has suffered only one professional defeat – at the hands of Davis in April 2023 – is eager to settle the score. In their previous encounter, Garcia succumbed to a powerful body shot in the seventh round, unable to recover.

For their initial bout, Garcia agreed to compete at a catchweight of 136 pounds and accepted a 10-pound rehydration clause, a decision he later regretted, citing extreme fatigue. Now, with momentum on his side following his win over Haney, Garcia is looking to reignite the rivalry.Ryan Garcia makes offer to Gervonta Davis for rematch, but on one condition

However, Garcia isn’t willing to meet Davis on the same terms as before. Taking to social media, he laid out his conditions for a rematch, insisting on a catchweight of 144 pounds. "Everyone wanna talk about the little Stupid tank," Garcia tweeted, "Let's fight, [enough] of that funny talk. Come see me at 144[lbs] and [let's] stop the talk. If you beat frank [Martin] let's run it."

Davis is scheduled to face Frank Martin at lightweight on June 15, making Garcia's challenge all the more intriguing. Yet, it remains uncertain whether Davis will accept Garcia’s demands.

During a recent interview with talkSPORT.com, Garcia outlined his hit list, which includes Teofimo Lopez, Shakur Stevenson, and a rematch with Gervonta Davis. Additionally, he expressed interest in a crossover MMA bout with UFC fighter Sean O'Malley, envisioning record-breaking pay-per-view numbers.

"It is gonna be in the cage," Garcia asserted, emphasizing his desire for an MMA matchup. "There's no other way I would do it other than me in the cage going against Sean O'Malley and ripping off his head. I don't want a flat fee, I just want a percentage of the PPVs, that's it."

As Garcia continues to carve his path in the world of combat sports, fans eagerly await the outcome of his potential rematch with Davis and the possibility of a crossover showdown with O'Malley.
